About this book:
The Silence Beneath Hollow Pines

After her father’s death, documentary filmmaker Nora Ames returns to her coastal hometown of Hollow Pines to settle his estate. While clearing out his home, she discovers a hidden microcassette labeled "M. Carter—Orchard," referencing her childhood friend Mia Carter, who vanished twenty years earlier. The tape contains a cryptic, clandestine conversation between her father, Mia, and a mysterious third man, revealing that the town’s most respected figures were involved in a pact to silence Mia. Joined by Mia’s brother, Jonah Wells, Nora begins an investigation that challenges the official narrative of Mia’s disappearance.

As Nora digs deeper, she uncovers a ritualized conspiracy known as "The Vow of Silence," maintained by the town's elite—including the sheriff, the local pastor, and Nora’s own therapist—to protect a shadow economy of blackmail and corruption. The investigation leads them to Meridian House, a decaying boarding house, and ultimately back to the town's ancient orchard. Along the way, Nora must confront her own repressed memories of the night Mia disappeared, realizing she was a witness to the abduction she had spent two decades trying to forget.

The tension culminates in a final confrontation at "the oldest tree" in the orchard, where Nora and Jonah face off against the network’s matriarch, Celia Mercer. After a violent struggle, Nora discovers a hidden subterranean archive beneath the orchard that contains decades of the town’s "inconvenient truths." With the help of a state detective and a newly surfaced witness, the silence is finally shattered. Though the truth brings the downfall of the town's powerful institutions and reveals her father’s complicated complicity, Nora finally finds the closure that Hollow Pines had long denied her.
