About this book:
The House of Broken Alibis

Claire Monroe, a successful true-crime podcaster, returns to her hometown of Raven’s Harbor after a weighted duffel bag and human remains are discovered, linking back to the decade-old disappearance of her friend Emma Clarke. Claire’s investigation is complicated by a traumatic car accident that occurred the night Emma vanished, leaving her with several "missing months" of memory. As she digs deeper, she realizes the town’s respectability is a facade maintained by Lyle Mercer, a powerful benefactor who has used a "Community Continuity" fund to bribe almost every citizen into silence regarding a massive smuggling operation run through the local cannery.

The investigation reveals a systemic web of complicity involving the Mayor, the Sheriff, and Claire’s own father, Mae Monroe. Claire discovers that on the night of the accident, she and Emma had been hunted after uncovering Mercer's ledgers. In a devastating memory recovery, Claire learns that her father and her friend Sarah Jenkins were in the vehicle that pushed her off the road, and that the town’s detective, Jonah Hale, helped Mercer chemically induce her amnesia to protect the town’s secrets. Emma was not lost at sea but murdered and hidden in a secret vault beneath the town’s church steeple, where the community literally prayed over her remains for ten years.

In the final reckoning, Claire rejects a high-level plea bargain intended to silence her podcast and instead exposes the entire conspiracy to her millions of listeners. Her father atones by burning down a secret lodge containing the town's blackmail trophies before disappearing, and Sarah Jenkins provides the final testimony needed to convict Mercer. The "House of Broken Alibis" finally collapses as the elite are arrested and Emma is given a proper burial. Claire remains in Raven’s Harbor, having reclaimed her stolen history and transformed the town's suffocating silence into a painful but honest transparency.
