The New Heir MTA
A Suspenseful Inheritance Mystery in a Small Town

About this book:

Lila Harper, a struggling artist, finds her life irrevocably changed when she is named the sole heir to the vast estate of reclusive millionaire Beatrice Covington, a woman she barely knew. The inheritance comes with a single, unsettling stipulation: Lila must reside in the crumbling Covington Manor for thirty days. Returning to her small hometown of Oakhaven, Lila is immediately met with the hostility of Beatrice’s resentful relatives and the chilling atmosphere of the manor itself, which seems to harbor dark secrets and whispers of the past. What begins as a potentially life-changing windfall quickly devolves into a suspenseful mystery as strange occurrences and veiled threats suggest that Beatrice’s generosity was anything but simple.

Driven by her artistic curiosity and a growing sense of unease, Lila delves into the manor’s history, uncovering a hidden world of family secrets and a decades-old injustice. Guided by cryptic clues left behind by Beatrice, including a hidden diary and a mysterious map, Lila discovers that Covington Manor is not just a house, but a repository of a century-old truth surrounding the death of Edward Covington and another local man, long dismissed as a tragic accident. As she gets closer to the devastating truth, Lila realizes that Beatrice didn’t just leave her a fortune; she left her a dangerous task: to expose a dark secret that powerful families in Oakhaven have fought to keep buried for generations.

With her life now in danger from those who wish to keep the truth hidden, Lila must navigate a treacherous path through veiled threats, escalating hostility, and unsettling discoveries within the manor’s labyrinthine walls. The thirty-day stipulation becomes a thrilling race against time as Lila, the reluctant heir, confronts not only the ghosts of the past but also the very real dangers of the present. As the secrets of Covington Manor are brought to light, culminating in a fiery confrontation, Lila must decide who she is willing to become in the shadow of Beatrice's extraordinary legacy and the pursuit of justice for those long silenced.
