Whispers in the Gloaming MTA
A Mystery Unfolding in the Shadows of the Scottish Highlands

About this book:

In the heart of the Scottish Highlands, journalist Ava Sinclair inherits her enigmatic grandmother Elara’s remote cottage, a place shrouded in local whispers and ancestral secrets. Expecting a quiet escape from her London life, Ava instead unearths Elara's cryptic diary, revealing a decades-old mystery surrounding the vanishing of Isla Cameron and her fiancé, Iain MacLeod, known as "The Glencara Lament." As Ava delves deeper, she discovers a hidden chamber containing a carved stone—the legendary "Two Hearts" relic—and a letter from Iain MacLeod himself, exposing a generational clan feud fueled by powerful "guardians" seeking to control the Heartstone, a sacred site tied to the land's ancient magic.

Joined by local historian Ewan, Ava uncovers shocking truths: her own ancestral ties to Glencara’s warring clans and the MacDougalls, the true protectors of the Heartstone. She learns Isla Cameron was not merely lost but absorbed by the Heartstone during a misguided ritual, and Iain sought a "better way" to appease its volatile power without further sacrifice. Ava's revelations dismantle centuries of deceit, culminating in a poignant community gathering where the true history is unveiled. But a final, terrifying cipher from Iain’s father reveals the Heartstone’s instability, demanding a perilous ritual to prevent Glencara’s destruction.

As the Autumn Equinox approaches, Ava, embodying the "new heart, fresh gaze" of prophecy, prepares to perform Iain’s carefully hidden "better way" ritual, a method of continuous balance using the newly discovered "Pearl of Harmony." This profound act of unity not only heals Glencara’s ancient wounds and appeases the land’s spirits but also leads Ava to a profound homecoming, embracing her ancestral legacy, a burgeoning love with Ewan, and a new purpose as a guardian of Glencara’s enduring peace.
