Echoes of the Forsaken MTA
A Mystery of Forgotten Truths and Hidden Shadows

About this book:

In the misty, secretive Scottish Highlands, historian Fiona McKenzie receives a cryptic, decades-old letter from her long-missing godmother, Moira Graham, drawing her back to Ballachulish. Fiona soon discovers Moira's disappearance was no accident, but tied to a powerful, hidden society known as "the watchers," who fiercely guard the town's ancient "binding pact" and its unsettling secrets. As Fiona delves into Moira's hidden research—uncovering coded messages, an ancient stone, and a mysterious locked box—she unearths a multi-generational legacy of truth-seeking within her own family, realizing her grandmother and Moira were both "contained" by the very people sworn to protect the glen.

Fiona's quest for truth leads her to confront her own family, including her great-aunt Isla and her presumed-dead grandfather, Iain Campbell, who are revealed as leaders of the watchers. With the unexpected aid of Moira's conflicted nephew, Iain MacLeod, Fiona escapes imprisonment in the ancient "Widow's Keep" and infiltrates the watchers' hidden archives. There, she discovers horrifying evidence of their systematic manipulation, fabricated history, and the grotesque practice of "soul-binding" to silence dissenters and fuel their corrupted pact. Her journey culminates in a public exposé using a traditional Lantern Procession, shattering the watchers' power and leading to a final, profound ritual in the Under-Keep that releases the trapped souls of her ancestors and heals the ancient "Binding Stone."

"Echoes of the Forsaken" is a thrilling Highland mystery that blends historical intrigue with chilling supernatural elements. It explores themes of generational trauma, the corrupting influence of power, and the enduring strength of truth and family. As Fiona navigates treacherous landscapes and unravels a conspiracy centuries in the making, she confronts not only external threats but also the deep-seated fears and loyalties within her own bloodline, ultimately orchestrating a reckoning that brings healing and a new dawn to a community long shrouded in silence and deception.
