The House on Hollow Ridge MTA
A Psychological Thriller of Family Lies and Murder

About this book:

Claire Mercer returns to her childhood home in Hollow Ridge to settle the estate of her mother, Ruth, only to find herself entangled in the suspicious circumstances surrounding the recent death of her sister, Mags. Though officially ruled an accident, Mags’s death is linked to a cryptic diary and a blurred photograph hidden by Ruth, suggesting a deep-seated family secret. Guided by her sister’s final messages and aided by her friend Lena and neighbor Jonah, Claire discovers that Ruth was not merely a protective mother but a central figure in a decades-old conspiracy involving land fraud and the cover-up of a murder.

As Claire peels back layers of deception, she uncovers a paper trail connecting Ruth to Arthur Hale, a ruthless developer intent on building a dam that would destroy the valley. The investigation reveals that the "accidental" death of a surveyor years ago was a murder orchestrated to facilitate a lucrative land grab. Mags had discovered this "original sin" and was silenced just as she was about to expose the truth. Claire finds herself hunted by Arthur Hale and the corrupt Sheriff Drake, leading to a series of high-stakes confrontations across the ridge and within the house’s hidden crawlspaces.

In a climactic public unmasking at the town’s harvest fair, Claire presents a hidden family ledger and a roll of film that provide undeniable proof of the conspiracy. The revelation shatters the town’s polite facade, leading to the arrest of Hale and Drake. Ultimately, Claire discovers a final photograph revealing a secret affair and an unexpected pregnancy that served as the catalyst for Ruth’s lifelong descent into crime. Though her family legacy is destroyed, Claire finds a somber resolution, choosing to preserve the truth while finally breaking free from the suffocating shadows of Hollow Ridge.
