A forensic thriller set in zero-G where crime scene science faces new physical realities
*Orbital Forensics* is a procedural thriller centered on Dr. Elara Voss, a forensic specialist who investigates crimes within the high-stakes, zero-gravity environments of luxury space habitats. The narrative begins on *Elysium Prime*, a gilded resort for the elite, where the gruesome murder of venture capitalist Alistair Finch is discovered. Voss must reinvent traditional crime scene science to account for the unique physics of orbit, where blood forms drifting spheres, air currents become accomplices, and the Coriolis effect dictates the trajectory of every piece of evidence. As she meticulously reconstructs the crime through multi-spectral scanning and fluid dynamics, she uncovers a web of corruption that extends far beyond a single homicide.
The investigation reveals that the habitat’s architect, Silas Thorne, and its owner, Julian Vane, have systematically compromised the station’s structural integrity to facilitate a massive smuggling and human organ trafficking ring. By hollowing out radial spokes and manipulating the life-support systems, they created a "ghost" infrastructure hidden from standard sensors. Voss discovers that Finch was killed to protect these secrets and to trigger a sophisticated financial fraud scheme. The forensic trail leads her through toxic chemical leaks, illegal structural "breaches," and the discovery of a "Quiet Thruster" technology used to move illicit cargo invisibly through the void.
In the climax, Voss faces off against the architect Silas Thorne and Vane’s enforcer, Marcus Thorne, using the station’s own physics to trap them. She proves that the very laws of motion and thermodynamics—which the conspirators thought they could manipulate—left an indelible record of their crimes. The book concludes with the dismantling of Vane’s empire and the literal bracing of the habitat’s scarred hull. Ultimately, Voss demonstrates that while luxury can be engineered and sensors can be jammed, the fundamental laws of physics provide an absolute foundation for justice, even in the most unreachable corners of the solar system.
