Amara reveals that the bazaar is built on land stolen from her ancestors, while the widower wins the market’s ultimate control in a high-stakes game of chance against Lucian the cardsharp, playing not for gold but for the redemption of her runaway son. Silas the Serpent is eventually neutralized, buried under the collapse of his own secret tunnels, leaving behind a power vacuum that is filled by a new, moral governance.
