About this book:

The Shadowed Walls of Willow Bay Claire Monroe, a true-crime podcaster, returns to her hometown of Willow Bay after her childhood friend, June Parker, disappears from the prestigious Seacliff Hotel. Claire quickly discovers that June was investigating the hotel’s philanthropic facade, uncovering a decades-old psychological conditioning program disguised as therapy. This program, initiated by Victor Hale Senior and continued by his son, Victor Hale, used money and subtle psychological manipulation, including a specific lullaby, to control vulnerable townspeople and maintain the town's manufactured tranquility.

As Claire delves deeper, she unearths a network of lies, including decoy ledgers, incriminating therapy tapes (one of which contains her own session as a teenager), and a sophisticated system designed to silence anyone who challenged the Hale family's power. Her brother, Ben, the hotel manager, is initially evasive but eventually confesses his reluctant complicity, revealing that he provided June with crucial clues while trying to protect Claire from the same fate. Claire also enlists the help of Maya, June's coworker, and Sheriff Tom Reyes, who harbors his own family history tied to the hotel’s coercive practices.

The investigation escalates into a desperate fight for survival when Victor Hale and his ruthless operative, Owen, try to eliminate Claire and Tom. Despite facing attempted murder, threats, and the destruction of digital evidence, Claire manages to gather the real ledger of blackmail and a master tape of the coercive therapy sessions. The climax involves a public hearing where Claire exposes Victor Hale's crimes to the town, a violent confrontation with Owen, and Ben’s ultimate sacrifice to protect Claire and reveal the full extent of his coerced involvement in June's disappearance.

In the aftermath, Victor Hale is arrested, and his empire begins to crumble. Ben, facing charges but also offered a plea deal, chooses a path of honest redemption. Claire, carrying the weight of June's legacy and her own fractured past, decides to leave Willow Bay. She carries the unedited tape of her therapy sessions as a reminder and a weapon, determined to rebuild her life on truth. The town begins the slow, painful process of confronting its silenced history, while Claire embarks on a new journey, ready to tell her story on her own terms.
