Beneath the Silver Veil MTA
A Mystery Entwined with Lost Memories and Hidden Truths

About this book:

In "Beneath the Silver Veil," Dr. Oliver Thorne, a renowned hypnotist in Edinburgh, encounters his most perplexing case in Imogen Ashford, a talented artist haunted by vivid, intrusive memories of a life not her own. These hypnotic visions plunge them into the opulent, yet treacherous, world of late 19th-century Edinburgh aristocracy, revealing the tragic story of Lady Eleanor Beaumont, her forbidden love with Alistair Marchmont, their secret child Lyra, and a sinister cover-up involving a missing portrait and a stolen locket. As Oliver and Imogen delve deeper, they uncover a web of deceit and betrayal, culminating in the chilling suspicion of Alistair's murder and the deliberate erasure of Eleanor and Lyra from historical record.

What begins as a therapeutic quest transforms into a gripping historical investigation, as Imogen's memories lead Oliver to tangible clues: a hidden locket in a grand Marchmont residence, a distinct swallow crest, and the chilling involvement of Lady Caroline Marchmont and a complicit doctor. Their findings expose not only a century-old murder and infanticide – in the parallel tragedy of Isabella and Morven MacAlistair – but also the ongoing machinations of powerful figures like Elias Finch, who guard these buried family secrets. Their unwavering pursuit of truth, fueled by Eleanor's "Swallows of Truth" and Isabella's "Falcon Whispers," culminates in the revolutionary discovery of Alistair Marchmont's "memory projector" schematics, a visionary technology capable of visually manifesting historical memories.

Ultimately, Oliver and Imogen, joined by a dedicated team, establish the Alistair Marchmont Institute for Memory Research, dedicated to ethically developing this groundbreaking technology. The 'Aether Lens' prototype successfully projects Lyra's portrait, revealing not just her story, but the very act of its creation and the interwoven memories of all involved. The project expands into the "Map of Echoes," allowing Edinburgh's collective subconscious history to be experienced directly, transforming the city into a living tapestry of forgotten lives. "Beneath the Silver Veil" is a captivating journey that blurs the lines between memory and history, proving that some truths, however deeply buried, demand to be heard, offering justice to unquiet spirits and ushering in a new dawn of human understanding.
