In the Shadow of the Silent City MTA
A Mystery Unearthed Beneath the Streets of Venice

About this book:

In the heart of Venice, renowned archaeologist Isabella Ferrante returns to her family's palazzo after her father's unexpected death. Grief-stricken and adrift, she delves into the labyrinthine tunnels beneath the city, a secret world her father had long explored. What begins as a quest for closure quickly unravels into a thrilling mystery, as Isabella discovers a hidden crypt holding the "Lumen Chronicles" and other artifacts of a forgotten civilization, along with cryptic notes from her father hinting at a powerful secret—the "Heart of Venice." Her exploration soon reveals she's not alone; a shadowy organization, the "Custodians of the Veil," led by the influential Grimaldi family, are also hunting for the Heart, believing it to be a source of ultimate power.

As Isabella navigates treacherous passages and deciphers her father's elaborate clues, she uncovers a secret society of "Blue Lanterns"—ancient guardians of Venice's true history—and allies with the intuitive Elena and the wise Benedict. She learns her mother's death was no accident, but a silencing by the Custodians, and her father's "death" was a carefully orchestrated feint to protect Isabella and lure the enemy away. The race against time intensifies, leading Isabella from the Venetian canals to the Peruvian Andes and the bustling streets of London and Rome, as she seeks to thwart the Custodians' global ambitions to corrupt other ancient power sources, including the "Observatory of the Condor." Ultimately, she must confront the "Keeper of Lies," the true architect behind the Custodians, who has been hiding in plain sight within her own family’s palazzo, feeding on the very essence of Venice.

*In the Shadow of the Silent City* is an exhilarating archaeological thriller that blends historical mystery with ancient mythology and a touch of the esoteric. Isabella's journey is one of profound self-discovery, as she embraces her lineage and destiny as a "Navigator," a guardian of the world's hidden truths. With her unique blend of scientific rigor and awakened intuition, Isabella must decipher ancient puzzles, outwit ruthless adversaries, and confront devastating family secrets to protect not only Venice, but the delicate balance of ancient power across the globe. This gripping narrative will transport readers through a richly imagined underworld where every shadow holds a secret and the fate of civilization hangs on the unraveling of a generations-old mystery.
