Summer in Fort Worth MTA
A Love Story

About this book:

Callie Thorne, a photojournalist from Chicago, arrives in Fort Worth for a summer assignment, expecting to capture the city's polished "Cowtown" image. Her plans shift when she meets Wyatt McCall, a fifth-generation rancher whose deep connection to the land challenges her urban perspective. Their relationship blossoms through shared adventures—exploring the Stockyards, Billy Bob's honky-tonk, and the ranch itself—as Callie documents authentic Texas culture. However, Wyatt faces a crisis when his greedy brother Ethan threatens to sell their family's historic ranch. Callie leverages her magazine feature on the ranch to rally public support, reframing it as heritage rather than real estate.

The couple's bond strengthens through intimate moments under Texas skies, carnival rides, and rodeo arenas, even as legal battles intensify. Wyatt's "complicated" past and current struggles test their connection, leading to temporary distance. Callie confronts Wyatt's withdrawal, insisting they face challenges together. Her unwavering support, combined with the magazine article and community backing, helps Wyatt win a decisive court victory. Ethan's attempts to exploit legal loopholes crumble when the judge recognizes the ranch's cultural value, securing its future.

With the conflict resolved and Fort Worth's summer drawing to a close, Callie and Wyatt forge a shared future. She embraces ranch life while establishing a photography studio on the land. Their love—rooted in mutual respect, adventure, and resilience—transforms both their lives. The story celebrates Fort Worth's diverse spirit through their lens, culminating in their commitment to a life where urban dynamism and rural tradition coexist, forever intertwined under Texas's expansive skies.
