The Lighthouse Dog Who Counted Every Ship
A Novel

About this book:

At Bass Harbor Head Light, the foghorn isn't the only keeper of the rhythm—Barnacle, a massive Newfoundland with a coat like midnight, maintains his own silent ledger of every vessel that cuts the horizon. For seven years, Elara Vance has trusted his watchful gaze as much as the Fresnel lens, finding comfort in their shared routine of coffee, crashing waves, and the dog’s impeccable, wordless tally. But when a nameless, flagless black freighter ghosts past the shoals on a wrong course with dark bridge windows and no crew in sight, Barnacle does something he’s never done before: he sounds a low, guttural warning that shatters their peaceful existence.

Suddenly, the lighthouse isn't just a beacon; it's a front row seat to a conspiracy pulling at the tides. From a message in a bottle to a phantom ship tracked through shifting sandbars, Elara and her four-legged sentinel are drawn into a perilous game where the official logs lie and the sea keeps deadly secrets. With a storm bearing down and a ruthless truth rising from the depths, the Great Black Watchman’s count isn't just a habit anymore—it's the only map to survival.

Atmospheric, suspenseful, and anchored by an unforgettable human-canine partnership, *The Lighthouse Dog Who Counted Every Ship* is a gripping coastal mystery where the bond between a keeper and her dog illuminates the darkest waters.
