The concern extends beyond overt disinformation. Algorithms can subtly influence perceptions by limiting users' exposure to diverse viewpoints, thereby strengthening existing biases. This constant reinforcement of beliefs, even without explicitly false content, can contribute to a breakdown of common ground in public debates and make societies more susceptible to manipulation.
