CHAPTER ONE: The Historical Context of Liechtenstein’s Politics
To understand the political landscape of modern Liechtenstein, we must first delve into its history, a narrative shaped by geographical constraints, the ambitions of princely families, and the ever-shifting power dynamics of larger European neighbors. Following Napoleon's defeat, Liechtenstein became a member of the German Confederation from 1815 to 1866.
