The Dodge brothers, who ran a successful machine shop, had previously supplied parts for Ford’s earlier prototypes and ventures. They were paid for their shares in the new company by agreeing to supply parts, an arrangement that would prove immensely profitable for them later on. Their involvement brought significant manufacturing expertise and capacity to the nascent enterprise.
