Following the decline of the Indus Valley Civilization, the region witnessed a succession of empires and cultural influences, each leaving its mark on the educational fabric. The arrival of Islam in the 7th century CE, and its subsequent institutionalization by Muslim rulers from the 11th century onwards, brought about a significant shift in educational paradigms. Islamic concepts heavily influenced the learning systems, with madrasas emerging as significant institutions for religious instruction and the spread of Islamic knowledge and culture.
