Systems that demand constant tending will compete with mission tasks, while systems that operate silently in the background free cognitive bandwidth for exploration. Designing for closure therefore includes designing for operability, with interfaces that make state transparent and actions legible. The best loop is the one that does not feel like a loop to the crew.
