Both entities then operated from a shared location at 197, Strada Mercanti in Valletta, consolidating services and likely streamlining the user experience.

The period between 1806 and 1857 is particularly rich for postal historians interested in pre-adhesive markings. During this era, handstamps served as the primary means of endorsing mail with essential information, such as the point of origin and the date of mailing. The cursive "MALTA" within a curved box, introduced from February 1807, is a notable example of these early handstamps.
